How to get more Google reviews for your restaurant

Most happy guests never write a review. Not because they wouldn’t, but because nobody asked at a good moment and the review page was a search away. Here are seven methods that work for restaurants, and where Bentu fits among them.

Free to start, and no credit card for the 30-day trial. We check every claim by hand, usually within 2–3 business days.

Why happy guests don’t write reviews

A guest with a complaint has a reason to write. A guest who had a lovely, uneventful dinner usually just goes home. Left alone, your public rating leans toward the nights that went wrong.

Every method below pulls the same two levers: ask at the moment the guest is happiest, and make leaving the review cost them almost nothing.

1. Make your review link one tap

Searching for your restaurant, finding the profile and hunting for the review button loses people at every step. Your Google Business Profile gives you a short link and a QR code that open your review form directly. Get it once, and use it everywhere below.

2. Ask when the guest is already saying something nice

The best moment is the compliment: the guest who tells the server the short rib was the best they’ve had, or thanks the host on the way out. A sincere “That means a lot. Would you mind saying it on Google?” feels natural there in a way a sign at the door never does.

3. Give your staff one sentence

Staff ask when they have the words ready and know the ask is welcome. Agree on one line, such as “If you enjoyed your meal, a Google review really helps a place our size. The link’s on your receipt.” Keep it optional, say it once, and never stand over a guest while they write.

4. Put the ask where guests already look

Print the code or the short link where a guest’s eyes land at the end of a meal, with a few words saying what it’s for. One clear ask on each surface works better than a row of logos.

  • The receipt or the check presenter.
  • A table tent, or a sticker by the register.
  • To-go bags and delivery inserts.
  • The thank-you message after a reservation or an online order.

5. Reply to reviews, good and bad

Replies show the next reader that someone is listening, and Google’s own help pages suggest replying politely, personally and promptly. Thank happy reviewers for something specific they mentioned. For criticism, acknowledge it, say what you’re doing about it, and offer to continue the conversation directly.

6. Keep every review real

Don’t trade discounts or free items for reviews, and don’t ask staff, friends or family to post. Google’s help page on getting reviews asks that reviews come from real experiences and says not to offer rewards for them. Reviews that read as genuine are the ones future guests trust.

7. Hear from every guest first, with Bentu

Bentu is one way to put several of these into practice at once. A QR code on the table asks every guest how it went: Meh, Good or Great, and a few words if they like. Everything they say reaches you privately in your dashboard, whatever the rating.

On the trial and Founding Member, a guest who says Great is thanked and given a one-tap invitation: their words copied and ready, and your Google review page a tap away, with Yelp beside it. A guest who says Meh sees your recovery offer for next time, if you’ve chosen one. Whether anyone posts a public review, anywhere, is up to them.

Questions owners ask

Where do I find my Google review link?

In your Google Business Profile. Google offers a link and a QR code that open your review form directly, so a guest doesn’t have to search for you. Share that one link everywhere you ask.

How does the review invitation work in Bentu?

After a guest says Great through your QR code, Bentu thanks them, copies their words and opens your Google review page in one tap. They paste, submit, done. Review invitations come with the trial and Founding Member.

Does it work with Yelp too?

Yes. Guests who say Great get direct links to both Google and Yelp, with their words ready to paste.

What happens to negative feedback?

It comes straight to you, privately, in your dashboard. If you’ve chosen a recovery offer, the guest gets it straight away. You get the chance to fix the problem while it’s fresh.

Can I offer a discount in exchange for a review?

Google’s help page on getting reviews says not to offer rewards for them, so keep discounts out of the ask. A Bentu recovery offer is a separate thing: it goes to a guest who said Meh, as a reason to come back, and has nothing to do with posting a review.
